I'm not too knowledgeable on Colt 1911A1's. A local pawn shop has a strange one. It appears to be a a military marked pistol (M1911A1 U.S. ARMY on forward right frame)) with a boxed WB inspector stamp. The slide is not numbered to the frame under the firing pin stop but has the Colt pony logo between the patent dates and address on the left side and small p in front of rear sight. Some genius painted it desert tan and added some rubber grips and post war Colt marked barrel and some other parts. My confusion is the serial number: WK0151_. At first I thought I copied it wrong but that number is also on the pawn shop tag. This seems weird for what seems like a 1941-42 pistol. Anyone have information on this pistol? I posted this question in the U.S. small arms section too.
Thanks for any help!
Mike
Colt list of serial numbers. I have a Govt Model, preban, purchased in 1989. The week I purchased, Colt announced they would discontinue manufacture of AR15s. They later started again with the Colt Sporter model. Mine is an exact copy of what the Military was using including bayonet lug. Serial number is GS0040XX.

- Simply go to the Colt homepage and hover your mouse to the “Customer Service” tab. In there is a useful function called “Serial Number Lookup”, click it then enter the serial numbers and characters on your Colt. However, as the page already stated, the database of the method is not a completed one.
- Colt Firearm Serial Number Lookup. This is a discussion on Colt Firearm Serial Number Lookup within the Guns forums, part of the Gun Forum category; Colt has recently added a great feature, allowing you to look up your Colt firearm by entering the serial number. One can only hope SIG.
