Anyone ever heard of this book from the owner of IronMind? The book description on the website says that it is a program, I was just wondering if anyone had any first hand experience with it at any point in their training lives and could throw me a bone here and tell me if it's as good as IM says it is.
I'm a weight moving newbie and weak as all f*ck right now, I admit it. My squat on the machine is only 250, my box squat is only 185, granted I just started lifting a month or so ago. I'm really focusing on squats, bench and deadlifting along with all the other essentials.
And yes I know guys, Machines are for pussies, but I'm starting off on the machine to build some muscle in my legs and ease my knee into training. I'll be hitting the barbell squats in a month or so.
For anyone who isn't aware, Super Squats or 'breathing squats' is a 20-rep squat routine conceived by Randall J. Strossen, and it's widely regarded as being pretty fucking awesome. The idea is to squat for 20 reps a weight you would normally do for 10. The way you achieve this is by taking a few breaths between each rep, essentially making it more like 20 sets of one rep with 5 or 10 seconds rest between them.
- Super Squats - How to Gain 30 Pounds of Muscle in 6 Weeks by Randall J. If you're skinny or consider yourself a hard gainer, then follow this routine.
- Get big and strong fast program: Riding decades of success, the SUPER SQUATS program has turned human toothpicks into stalwarts, and stalwarts into legends. After a few minutes under a squat bar, you will find out what you're made of: wussies hate it, hardies revel in it. The routine in this book is so tough that only the highly motivated can handle it.
So has anyone had experience with squat routines like this?
Do they work?
How do you program them? Do you replace your squats entirely with the 20-rep set, or just throw in a widowmaker at the end of your workout?
